The jury of Archiprix 2015

The jury reviewed all 351 entries in November 2014 at the ETSAM in Madrid. After the jurymeetings each of the jurymembers made some general remarks.

 

 

 

Luis Fernández-Galiano is an architect, professor at the School of Architecture, Madrid, and editor of Architectura Viva, Spain's leading architecture magazine. He also writes on architecture for Spain’s leading newspaper, El País. He has been on the jury of several national and international competitions. Luis Fernández-Galiano is also author of architecture books including La Quimera Moderna and Fire and Memory: On Architecture and Energy, which traces the origins of architecture from ancient history through current times. He has been the Cullinan Professor at Rice University, USA, a visiting scholar at the Getty Center of Los Angeles and a visiting critic at Princeton, Harvard and the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands. 

Anupama Kundoo’s internationally recognised and award-winning architecture practice started in 1990, demonstrates a strong focus on material research and experimentation towards an architecture that has low environmental impact and is appropriate to the socio-economic context. Kundoo has built extensively in India and has had the experience of working, researching and teaching in a variety of cultural contexts across the world: TU Berlin, AA School of Architecture London, Parsons New School of Design New York, University of Queensland Brisbane, IUAV Venice and ETSAB Barcelona. She is currently Professor at UCJC Madrid where she is Chair of ‘Affordable Habitat’. She is also the Strauch Visiting Critic at Cornell University.

 

Eduardo Arroyo graduated as an architect and town planner in 1988 from the ETSAM in Madrid. Since the he has taught and lectured worldwide. In 1989 he founded NO.MAD in Amsterdam, moved to Paris and Bilbao and is based in Madrid since 1996. Awarded in many occasions the work of NO.MAD has been published and exhibited in many countries. The work combines precision, chance and necessity always in search for the unknown. 

Catherine Mosbach is a Landscape architect, she graduated at the ENSP of Versailles in 1986. She is co-editor and co-founder of the magazine Pages Paysages in 1987. She received the Rosa Barba European Landscape award for the Botanical Garden of Bordeaux, at the III European Biennial on Landscape of Barcelona in 2003. Some of her key projects are the Saint Denis Canal Promenade in Paris, the Archeological Park in Solutre, the Botanical Garden in Bordeaux, the Museum Park Louvre in Lens, the Republic plaza in Paris and the Jade ecopark in Taichung. Her activity has been often recognized and reported in numerous publications. She is author of conferences and lectures related to the urban green. She took part of some exhibition like “Bordeaux botanical garden” Constructing the Contemporary Landscape architecture at the MoMA in New York in 2006, “choreography in five movements” la construction du paysage at CDAN Centro de arte y naturaleza Fundacion Beulas in Huesca in 2008 and “kinetic bonds” Wunderlich Gallery at The University of Melbourne in Melbourne in 2010.
