This is a design for a prison for 300 inmates in the medium and low security category, in RÃcany, near Prague. Punishment is seen as a social prodigy, the prison as a rule. The strict architecture is seen as a possible way of punishment. The prison consists of six rectangular volumes, enclosed by a wall. The outdoor expression evokes a fortification unit. The play of shadows on the side frames the function as a security corridor. In between the volumes are courtyards, one containing a sports hall and a chapel. On the ground floor common activities take place, cell blocks are on the first and second floors. In the middle there is a warder foot bridge that runs through the whole structure
