The station area in Bruges has enormous potential for the sity, a new section of the city can be developed here for the next generation, close to the city centre. This new district of the city is complementary to the old centre : they will together enter into a synergy whose sum is worth more than its parts. On the one hand there is the old city, with its glorious past, splendid historical monuments and attractive areas for shopping and amusement. On the other hand there is the new city, with its well situated locations near the station and ring-road, the perfect place for the development of employment, housing and commerce in the Bruges of the next century.
